
Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah is a professor at the Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School and the Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). She lectures extensively in usul al-fiqh, fiqh muamalat, Islamic finance, financial regulation and governance, and sustainable finance. Her main area of expertise lies in the application of Shariah principles to Islamic banking and finance products, particularly Islamic trade finance facilities. Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah also serves as a visiting professor and external assessor for Islamic finance programs at many local universities and international universities in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. She is also a panel assessor of the Malaysia Qualifications Agency’s (MQA) for Islamic banking and finance programs.
Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah completed her bachelor’s degree in Shariah (Economics) and her master’s degree in Shariah (Islamic Banking) from the University of Malaya and obtained her doctoral degree in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She is also a Certified Shariah Advisor awarded by the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (CSA ASAS).
Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah previously served as a member of the Shariah committees for Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank), United Overseas Bank UOB (Malaysia), AmMetLife Takaful Berhad, and Bank Pertanian Malaysia Berhad (Agrobank). Currently, she is a member of the Shariah committee at Maybank Islamic Berhad, contributing to advisory, governance and Shariah compliance in Islamic financial products and practices for Maybank Group.
