Dato’ Rafique was appointed as an Executive Director of Etiqa General Takaful Berhad on 1 January 2018. He also serves as the Chairman of the Investment Committee of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad.

He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, Boston, United States; and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom and a Chartered Accountant of Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Malaysia.

Dato’ Rafique has more than 30 years of corporate sector experience, with 9 years spent as the Chief Financial Officer of several Malaysian listed corporations, including the Maybank Group.

Within the Maybank Group, Dato’ Rafique is also currently the Group Chief Executive Officer, Islamic Banking, Maybank and Chief Executive Officer, Maybank Islamic Berhad since 2016. He also sits on the board of Maybank Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd.

Besides the Maybank Group, Dato’ Rafique is also the Chairman of Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
