Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah is a professor at the Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School, Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Her lectures at UiTM and visiting professorship assignments in Indonesia cover usul al-fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), fiqh muamalat (Islamic law of transaction), Islamic finance, Islamic financial regulatory framework and governance, and sustainable finance.
She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah (Economics) and her Master’s Degree in Shariah (Islamic Banking) from Universiti Malaya in 1995 and 2004, respectively. She then obtained her Doctoral Degree in Islamic banking and finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2012.
She is also an external examiner/assessor for Islamic banking and finance programs offered at a few universities in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, as well as a member of the Panels of Assessors of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
Her speciality lies mainly in the application of Shariah to Islamic finance and banking products, particularly to Islamic trade finance facilities.
Previously, Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah was appointed as a Shariah Committee member of the Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, and AmMetLife Takaful Berhad. Currently, she serves Agrobank and Maybank Islamic Berhad as one of the Shariah Committee members.
