Dato’ Muzaffar Hisham was appointed as an Executive Director of Etiqa General Takaful Berhad on 21 June 2024. He also serves as the Chairman of Investment Committee of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad.

Dato’ Muzaffar holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. He is also a Chartered Banker of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers.

Dato’ Muzaffar has over 20 years of experience in financial services, encompassing Islamic Banking and Investment Banking. He honed his expertise in investment banking during his tenure with Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad, CIMB Investment Bank Berhad and HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad. Dato’ Muzaffar also played a crucial role in several key debt and corporate restructuring exercises during the 1997 financial crisis. He is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Islamic Banking and the CEO of Maybank Islamic Berhad. Previously, he served in Maybank Group as the Group CEO, Global Banking of Maybank Group from July 2016 to February 2024 and CEO of Maybank Islamic Berhad, and Group Head, Islamic Banking of Maybank Group from March 2011 to June 2016.

In addition to his leadership roles at Maybank, Dato’ Muzaffar Hisham currently serves as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director (NINED) for Maybank Islamic Asset Management Sdn. Bhd. He is also an audit committee member of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) and a board member of Cagamas Holdings Berhad.
