Dr. Siew Chan Cheong was appointed as an Executive Director of Etiqa Life Insurance Berhad on 17 February 2025.

Dr. Siew holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom (UK). He also graduated with a Master of Business Administration from London Business School, UK. He is a Chartered Engineer and Corporate Member of Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK.

Dr. Siew has over 22 years of experience in formulating and implementing multi-country transformation strategies across various industries and organisations, including major banks in UK and Asia, across retail, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), corporate, investment banking and insurance sectors. He commenced his career in UK, holding various positions, including Mechanical Integrity Engineer, Core Technology Team Leader and Project Manager with leading firms, namely Alstom Power, British Oxygen Company Group and Servotest Systems Ltd.

In 2010, Dr. Siew joined Strategy& (formerly known as Booz & Company) as an Engagement Manager, where he advised large European global banking groups on transformation and growth strategies post-2008 financial crisis, leading key projects in UK, Middle East, United States and Asia. In 2014, he was appointed as a Senior Director, Financial Services at Strategy&, where he advised the C-suite of financial services firms in retail, investment, and corporate banking to drive significant transformation change and growth strategies.

In 2019, Dr. Siew joined RHB Banking Group as the Group Chief Strategy Officer. He was subsequently appointed as the Group Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer in 2022, mainly responsible for developing and driving the Group’s strategic growth priorities and transformation, especially in Digital and Innovation.

Dr. Siew then joined Maybank Group as the Group Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer in August 2022, mainly responsible for developing and driving the Group’s strategic growth priorities and transformation (especially in Data Analytics/Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Innovation) across the Maybank Group. He is also a member of Maybank Group’s Executive Committee.

Within Maybank Group, Dr. Siew sits on the Board of Maybank Philippines Incorporated and Etiqa Digital Solutions Sdn. Bhd. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Strategy Committee, and a member of Audit Committee of the Board, Risk Management Committee and Corporate Governance Committee of Maybank Philippines Incorporated.
